"I came for the interview which was my first time in a bingo hall and I was taken back by how busy it was and thought I blew the interview. Surprisingly I was then hired the same day!! I was either an amazing candidate or the rest were not so great I don't know but I must have been the best.  😊

When I first started, I was a cleaning assistant but I soon started doing odd jobs regarding the maintenance of the building. The management at the time must have seen some potential in me and recruited me to the dark side. I started working within the AWPs (fruit machines) which at the time was a relatively new position within the club. I really enjoyed this position as I got to do what I do best which is talk to the customers.

Throughout the years I have learned how to do most positions within the club and I have really enjoyed my job.  So, when the bar team leader position became available, I put myself forward for this.

Carlton trained me and I received my personal license, I also have an ILM qualification in Team Leading. The company and management at Carlton have been very helpful and supportive. I have progressed not only from a business perspective but as a person. I can say I have gone from helping elderly people in their houses to helping them win houses."

Lauren joined the company 19 years ago and is our General Manager at Livingston...

quotesArtboard 1 copy 2

"I started in at Carlton Bingo in November 2003 as a trainee team assistant with the Livingston Club. Throughout the years I progressed up the ladder within the club to the level of Supervisor.

Each year Carlton recruit trainee managers to add to the management teams across Scotland. In 2013 I was successful and left the club to become a trainee manager. During this time, I went through extensive operational training and also gained the relevant qualifications needed to progress within the management team, which has now seen me appointed to the General Manager role in Livingston.

The biggest thing for me is the people on all levels, and the open communication. I know I can pick up the phone and speak to any support personnel straight away and they know who I am, I don’t think you could say that about many companies.

I enjoy working for Carlton because everyone shares the same vison and are dedicated to driving the business forward year on year. Bingo is always changing, evolving, and every day is different!"

"I made a last minute decision to attend a recruitment fair at the SECC in Glasgow, this is where I discovered the Carlton Bingo stall that was packing up for the day when I arrived. After completing the interview process I joined Carlton on 17th March (St. Patricks Day) 2008 as a Trainee Manager.

I worked as an Assistant Manager for 4 years before joining the Operations Office Initially as an Audit/HR Assistant and then moved to my current role as Health & Safety/ Training Officer. During my time working for Carlton they have helped me gain qualifications such as The Diploma in Advanced Food Hygiene and The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety; as a company they really invest in their staff!"
